This form is in Adobe Acrobat format ( | 1 Purpose: 1.1 It shall be the purpose of the CheerFusion All-Star Cheerleaders to promote and uphold team spirit among ourselves, to develop good sportsmanship by example, to support good relations in the community and between other teams during events. The organizational goal is to work hard to develop a strong sense of unity through practice, discipline, and teamwork to create a successful atmosphere for all to succeed. 2 Eligibility: 2.1 Each squad member must support South Central Athletics and CheerFusion above all other gyms and all-star teams. 2.2 Each squad member must be neatly presented, medically fit, and if under 18 years of age provide signed parental permission and release waivers. 2.3 Members may be male or female, with a minimum age of 3 and a maximum age of 18 as of May 31st, 2007. 2.4 Acceptance of a candidate shall be on the basis of ability, the coaches agreement, acceptance of the team rules, and without prejudice of race, creed, or color. 3 Membership: 3.1 Members are accepted through open try-outs and, for those unable to attend, private try-outs. Additional members may be added through the end of July. After this time, members can only be added to fill vacancies that may occur. 3.2 If a cheerleader quits once the routine is complete he or she will not be allowed to cheer the following season. 3.3 There will be no permanent cross-over members. In the event that a regular team member is unable to compete, and there is ample notice, a member from another team may be asked to fill in for that competition. In this case, the gym would be responsible for the cross-over fee. 3.4 All members of the teams will cheer at all competitions and any possible exhibitions. 4 Attendance Requirements: 4.1 All cheerleaders will attend all practices and competitions or events, unless pre-approved by the coach. Two consecutive unexcused absences will result in suspension from cheerleading for two weeks. During the suspension, the member must still attend all practices and competitions and continue to pay all fees during this time. The second time this same incident occurs he or she will be dismissed. 4.2 Summer camp is mandatory. 4.3 Each member will be allowed a total of two weeks for summer vacation, not during summer camp and with adequate notice to the coach. 4.4 Sickness, school functions and events, weddings, and funerals will be considered excused absences if adequate notice is provided to the coach. 4.5 Any other exceptions in attendance are at the discretion of the coach but must be submitted, in writing, at least 2 weeks in advance for consideration. 4.6 In the case that an emergency arises, please keep us informed and we will work with you and your child. 4.7 Excessive absences, excused and unexcused, may result in dismissal from the team. 4.8 All team members will only be allowed in the gym during their tumble class or cheer practice times. If they arrive early or stay late they must remain in the waiting areas. This is for the safety of your child and the others participating in classes at SCA. 4.9 Social Activities: All members are encouraged, but not required to attend, unless practice is involved. However, advance notice of non attendance is required. 4.10 If any other activities or opportunities are chosen by the coaches, the coaches shall decide if the event is mandatory or optional. Reasonable notice of all such activities/ opportunities will be given for mandatory events, and as early as possible for others. 5 Financial Responsibilities: 5.1 Each member is responsible for their monthly tuition (males excluded), equipment fees, camp fees, competition fees, and travel expenses. 5.2 In cases where two or more siblings are involved in the cheer program you will now receive a $10 discount on your monthly tuition on each child after the first. 5.3 Monthly tuition is due at the first of each month. It will be considered late after the 10th and a $5 late fee must be added. 5.4 Any child that decides to quit the program after the routine is completed will be charged the remainder of monthly tuition through the end of the season. (Extenuating circumstances will be taken into account.) 5.5 Any fees, including monthly tuition, that are paid in advance are non-refundable. 5.6 Fundraiser projects will be available to assist in the costs of equipment fees, camp fees, and competition fees only. 5.7 Fundraisers must be approved by the coaches. 5.8 Fundraisers: The first fundraiser will be team effort and all are required to raise a profit of at least $75. If this amount is not reached by the member, he or she must pay in the difference or the total amount if they chose not to fundraise. Beginning with the second fundraiser, your individual account will be credited with the profit amount that you raise. In the case of a group effort fundraiser (i.e. car washes, pagents, ect.), the money will be equally split between those that participate. The money raised that goes into your account may only be used for that listed in section 5.2 and any money left in your account at the end of the season will stay in you account and roll over in to the next season. In the event that your child does not return the following season, any money left in your account will go in to the general booster account. Money in your account may not be used for monthly tuition or travel expenses. 6 Practice Schedule: 6.1 Practices are to be set by the coaches with the consideration of tumble classes, cheer floor availability, the SCA staff, and events outside the gym involving team members (i.e. ballgames, church functions, ect.). 6.2 The following is the 2007-2008 weekday practice schedule: Tiny’s: Tuesday 5-6 Mini’s: Thursday 5-6:30 Youth: Thursday 6:30-8:30 Juniors: Tuesday 6-8 Seniors: Monday 7-9 6.3 There will be Saturday practices every other weekend for the Mini’s, Youth, Juniors, and Seniors. The Tiny’s will practice only one Saturday a month. 7 Uniforms and Practice Wear: 7.1 Uniforms will be rented from SCA. Uniforms are the property of South Central Athletics, Inc. and must be cleaned and returned at the end of the season or at dismissal. 7.2 Uniforms are the complete responsibility of each member. If any part is destroyed beyond normal wear and tear, or if any part is missing, the cheerleader must replace it in it’s entirety. 7.3 Uniforms must not be altered in any way with out the coach’s prior approval. 7.4 Practices wear is mandatory for all team practices. 7.5 Cheer shoes are to be worn at all practices and competitions, but not outside. Bring them with you to put on before we begin. 7.6 Uniforms will only be worn for events designated by the coaches. 7.7 Cheerleaders in uniform or wearing any item of team identification must always conduct themselves in a manner becoming to a CheerFusion All-Star Cheerleader. 8 Appearance: 8.1 At no time when your child is in the gym for class or practice will he or she be allowed to wear jewelry or watches. This is for the safety of not only your child but other participants as well. 8.2 Uniforms must be kept spotless at all times. 8.3 Hairstyles must be secured up out of the face for all practices. Hairstyles for competitions must be worn as directed by the team coach. 8.4 Competition makeup, other than glittered eyes and lips, should be natural and not excessive. Glitter should be worn as directed by the team coach. 8.5 Cheerleaders should look their best at all times, especially when in uniform. 9 Conduct: 9.1 Team members are required to maintain and uphold the reputation of the CheerFusion All-Star Cheerleaders through their own conduct, team spirit, attendance, and participation. 9.2 Members are required to be courteous, polite, friendly, and try to have a smile for everyone. 9.3 Members will make every attempt to ignore or dissuade negative responses at events and not become involved in such actions among themselves. 9.4 All members will show respect for their team members, their coaches, and themselves. In return, he or she will receive respect back. 9.5 Parents may contact the coaches at any time to discuss their child only, other children will not be discussed with the contacting parent. 9.6 All final decisions are at the soul discretion of the SCA coaches and staff and will be based on what is best for the entire team and overall program. 10 Disciplinary Action: 10.1 It shall be squad policy that disciplinary action will be taken only after a reasonable attempt has been made to resolve the situation through team discussion, individual discussion, and encouragement. 10.2 Disciplinary action is at the discretion of the SCA staff member in charge at that time. It can include but is not limited to push-ups, crunches, and running laps. 10.3 A list of practice rules and consequences will be compiled by each team and posted in the gym. A copy will also be sent home with each member. All members will be expected to adhere to the practice rules as an extension of these rules. 10.4 A cheerleader may be suspended, for a length of time decided upon by the coach, for the following reasons: unexcused absences, excessive tardiness, failure to cooperate with coaches and staff members, grades below C level (parents will need to help with this), or failure to abide by team rules. 10.5 A cheerleader may be dismissed from the team for the following reasons: excessive absences, excessive and irreconcilable disruptive influence on the team, conduct likely to bring the team reputation into dispute (such as use of alcohol or drugs), and as otherwise deemed necessary by the coach. |
